In cooperation with the American Chuck Wagon Association and its newly formed Pacific Northwest Chapter, chuck wagons from the four western states (Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana) and western Canada (British Columbia and Alberta) have been invited to the Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering.
Participants will be bringing authentic and restored chuck wagons to the KVEC Fairgrounds to demonstrate cooking methods while on the trail, as well as some serious competition. Some of these wagons are still used on ranches today to prepare grub for hungry cowhands during branding and round ups. Wagon set-up will be held on Friday, the 17th and the Cook Off is scheduled for Saturday, the 18th and Sunday, the 19th.
Tickets are available by pre-sale at 1-888-925-2204, and a limited number at the Trail Boss tent at KVEC fairgrounds from 11 AM Saturday and Sunday at a cost of $12. Saturday’s meal will be served from Noon to 2 PM and will include a beef dish, potatoes, beans, bread, dessert, coffee or water. The meal on Sunday will feature pork, beans, coleslaw, bread, dessert and coffee or water, service starting at 11 AM until 1 PM.
We are proud to present this authentic representation of an integral part of life in the west during the days of the cowboy. These chuck wagons are a window into a world and way of life that is quickly disappearing. You won’t want to miss the sights, sounds, smells and the taste of real chuck wagon cooking brought to you as part of celebrating the “Week of the Cowboy”.
We highly recommend that you pre purchase your tickets as this was a popular sold out event last year. There will be 50 tickets available from Trail Boss at the wagons from 11 AM. Each $12 ticket entitles you to one complete meal at one wagon. We are planning on preparing 300 meals each day. There is a possibility of additional tickets being available after 2 PM on Saturday and 1 PM on Sunday.
